15 October - 19 November

Opeing 7:30pm Firday 14 October

Bev Seth is a ceramic sculptor and is exhibiting several different bodies of work:

  • The Land we Live in

  • Caretakers Birds

  • Standing Stags

Each body of work is inspired by how the artists feels about her environment and our relationship and interaction with it.

The Land we live in series considers what our environment might look like if we no longer lived in it, the traces we would leave and nature’s resulting reclamation of built spaces. Although inspired by Sheffield’s hills and industrial history the simple sculptures make reference to both other built environments as well as picture book stories where so often a house on a hill is depicted. The artist leaves room for us to build our own narrative.

“Caretaker birds are mythical birds that have reappeared as they are rumoured to do during a time of need. A time when we need reassurance about the future, about our health and well-being and about our fellow humans. Their aim in life is to gently show us the way, point out things of beauty and offer hope. ” Bev Seth

Standing stags are symbolic of both the power and poetry of nature. Magnificent creatures that seem to straddle the line between the truly wild and a domestic existence, allowing, as they do, humans to live close up to their lives and world.
