‘Giving a feather’ workshop by Yuka Jourdain Jewellery, one of the workshops celebrating 30 years of Cupola
Cupola Gallery celebrates 30 years open this August 2021. Established in 1991, Cupola Gallery remains one of the most respected contemporary galleries for the sale and exhibition of fine art & fine craft in the north of England. For celebrating this extraordinary achievement, Karen Sherwood, the gallery owner of Cupola Gallery called for artists who will deliver workshops and activities that all can enjoy.
Yuka Jourdain Jewellery is one of the artists who will participate in this program. She will provide a ‘Giving a feather’ workshop on Saturday 18th September 2021. Participants will embellish a feather-shaped felt piece and stitch it onto a bird brooch frame that represents a bird on the Red List.
Yuka, who is also an intern at Cupola Gallery this summer, has just finished her study at Sheffield Hallam University MFA Jewellery and Metalwork this May. During the course, she has worked on the theme of biodiversity loss of birds on the U.K. Red List. 1 in 4 UK birds are currently on the Red List and she hopes to contribute to raising awareness of the issue through her jewellery designs and other activities.
Yuka says, ‘As well as learning about endangered birds, I hope visitors will enjoy the whole experience of the day at Cupola Gallery. It is a drop-in session so they can pop in, choose a bird brooch frame they like, and immerse in making and seeing a lovely bird brooch completing in their hands.’
Cupola Gallery and Yuka Jourdain Jewellery are looking forward to seeing you on the day.
