Artists Statement:
I consider myself to be a ceramic designer. The landscape and natural world influences my work, I respond to these visual stimulants through expressive mark making and painting. My practice is driven by exploring the relationship between 2D and 3D. Looking at the use of ink
and emulsion and how that can be translated into clay by using coloured slips and oxides.

By combining industrial methods of production with expressive surface pattern I create unique, functional ceramics. These pieces are simple inform which allows for the bold application of decoration to catch the
viewers’ attention. Using vivid hues contrasted against a monochrome palette, I work spontaneously on my vessels. This process is fundamental to my current body of work.
