Cupola Ukraine Appeal

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR BIDS WE HAVE RAISED £776 FOR UKRAINE.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE CONTACTED THIS WEEK WITH PAYMENT DETAILS.

Cupola Gallery is hosting an art auction in aid of Ukraine.

“It all started when Karen Shapley, a locally based artist, made a specific sculpture, ‘Little drummer girl’ and asked us if we could auction it to raise money for Ukraine. We, of course, were happy to help.

After this we had several auctions of paintings through Ebay and sold textile postcards and tin cans directly at the gallery. This raised over £1800 with the money going to Emergency Disaster Relief, British Red Cross & Medicine sans Frontiers.

Since that time the flood gates opened and we were swamped with artists wanting to help and donate work. So now we are ready for the BIG ART AUCTION.” Karen Sherwood, Director.

The auction features 25 artists and over 30 items (some available to buy immediately). We have paintings from international artists such as Anne Penman Sweet (AUS) as well as many items donated from locally based artists. We have paintings from Sheffield based artist Gill Gathercole as well as works from Pauline Rignal, Mariel Borst Pauwel, Rachel McDonnell, Jo Brown, Hilary Cartmel and Evelyn Albrow. We have prints from Kathryn Rhodes, Christine Anderson, Richard Gee, Olivia Bliss & Lee Hardman. In addition we have stunning jewellery from Yuka Jourdain and Fumi. We have ceramic animals, vases and sculptural wall pieces from Sarah Brabbin, Vanna Taylor, Anna Kime, Hilary Marsh and Jenny McCall. Last but not least we have textile postcards by the wonderful Ann Menary.

"This painting was made after a trip to Staithes when the weather was, sadly, pretty awful! I, and my partner both got absolutely soaked to our skin. I still loved it though. I hope that someone out there has had a similar experience and might connect enough to want to buy it for such a good cause."

Delight

23 x 29 cm framed

19.5 x 26 cm image size

SOLD! Thanks so much £280 going straight to charity.

"I called the painting 'Delight' and painted it last year as part of a tribute to a great painter who had an incredible capacity for delight which he reflected in his amazing paintings. Now in the face of the humanitarian crisis which people from the Ukraine are suffering, I hope this painting can raise funds towards the practical support they need at this time. As part of Cupola Ukraine Appeal Auction the gallery asked which charity l'd like funds to go to so l chose: Disaster Emergency Committee(DEC) - Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. It includes 15 leading charities and money's raised are matched by UK government. They provide food, water, medicine, shelter and trauma care for people fleeing the war.

Please join the bidding and good luck"
