Artist Statement:

My practice is painting with oil on silk over other surfaces such as canvas and board. It is work that examines everyday images. I like to use the title to present an additional meaning or suggestion in the work. I make paintings that reflect my interest in disguises in society. My work explores the idea of the ubiquitous façade. The recent series I have completed was the culmination of explorations around the edge of Manchester in 2017. Other aspects of my paintings are images from the high street and passengers commuting that can question our identity in contemporary society. In my series of mezzotints you can find references to Darwin's theory of natural selection.
