Teddy Evans' Boots and Other Stories
11 February – 11 March
Opening Friday 10 Date 7:30pm
Taking a leap into the unknown, Emma Whiting uses Teddy Evans boots (Navigator and first to die on Captain Scott’s ill-fated Antarctic expedition) as a stepping off point to look at our fascination with exploration.
Teddy Evans’ boots and other stories is Emma Whitings debut solo show at Cupola Contemporary Art. The exhibition will feature life size drawings, painting, print making and sculpture. Showcasing Emma’s broad range of skills to delve into stories of exploration and illuminate some of the reasons we have for our desire to go beyond.
Emma Whiting grew up in Nottingham, read English at Oxford, and trained as an art teacher. She has exhibited regularly in and around York where she now lives with her family, participating in York Open Studios, art& and the Great North Art Show as well as numerous smaller solo “pop ups” and group exhibitions in galleries.
