Cupola is hosting two solo exhibitions by two well known Sheffield based print makers with distinctly different styles at the same time.

John Pedder’s solo show is titled: 'Everything Near its Place’ which will be, in John’s own words ‘a slightly twisted retrospective of my work over the last few years.’ Images to follow. Film credits to Charlotte Parry Jones.

James Green’s solo show is titled: ‘Works 2018-2020’

James Green: Works 2018-2020

James is an artist/printmaker based in Sheffield. He’s has been working in print for over 16 years now, specifically with linocut and screenprint. For this exhibition he is showing a selection of works from the last two years, including several new pieces, mainly based around his surreal donkey landscapes and his stone compositions.

The donkey prints are a means to celebrate the undervalued creatures, putting them in their own special world to explore as they wish. They are a combination of linocut and screenprint, based on drawings and plasticine sculptures.

The stone compositions are a series based on drawings of pebbles found on beaches from around the UK, focussing on the natural patterns and colours and playing with them to a level of abstraction. They are multi-layer screen-prints and reduction linocuts, and are based in drawings done in situ (in North Wales and the Yorkshire coast).
