Andrew Vickers AKA 'Stoneface' currently lives and works in Sheffield. He is based at the 'Wood Shed' in Stannington creating abstract and figurative sculptures in a variety of stone.
His carving is an instinctive process influenced by the stone, the place and the subject. There is a powerful emotion clearly present in his work that is difficult to describe or define.
Some of his pieces are strongly related to the cycles of birth, death and rebirth, and some are representative of a desire to capture transient experiences or emotions in a permanent form.
